Is your child getting bored of the usual ways of learning letter names and sounds such as reading? Perhaps it is time to try something new to excite him/her!
In this post, we will be teaching you how to make a sensory learning tool that provides fun ways to teach your child the letter names and sounds using tactile input. What’s more, this is a low cost activity that you can easily make at home!
You will need the following materials:
500g of fine salt
Tray
Spoon and chopstick
Takeaway container with lid
Food dye
Essential oil (optional)
Here are the steps:
Pour salt into a plastic takeaway container.
Add a few drops of food dye and essential oil (if you like) and shake!
Once mixed well, spoon enough onto a tray to cover its base evenly.
Use a chopstick to trace out shapes, letters or numbers!
Other than using it to learn shapes, letters or numbers, the salt container can also provide for an exciting game of treasure hunt! Hide items in the salt and get your child to find or feel them and guess what the objects are.
